CBCT Machine (Cone Beam Computed Tomography) is a Planmeca Pro max Mid 3D unit (Planmeca Oy, Helsinki, Finland) supported by Romexis 4.6.2.R version software. This machine is fully configured to take tomographic scans of the head and neck. The software allows 3D evaluation of the teeth and Jaws, implant planning, assessment of airways, temoporomandibular joint evaluation, model analysis andan ENT mode that helps in imaging the nose, sinus, middle ear, temopral bone and vertebrae. The high end software also has an Endo mode and ortho studio. The machine has a special Proface program, which essentially helps in superimposing the face of the patient over the 3D reconsutructed images, which allows planning for Orthognathic surgeries and Orthodontics. Apart from these, the traditional panoramic imaging and cephalometric analysis can be done. The machine is configured to achieve slice thickness between 0.2mm to 5.4mm. The field of fiew (FOV) ranges from 40x50mm for a small FOV , upto 200x170 mm for a large FOV. Added to this, the inbuilt noise reduction program helps in reduction of artifacts. The machine also boasts of a low dose mode that minimizes patient exposure.
