Description
Fractional Exhaled Nitric Oxide (FeNO) is a simple method of measuring allergic/eosinophilic inflammation of the airways. It is a useful biomarker for predictor of exacerbations- higher levels being associated with higher risk of exacerbations in asthma patients. Higher FeNO levels is also known to be associated with lung function decline. It is a quick and non-invasive test where you are made to blow into a hand held device and results are obtained right away. It is a product of airway inflammation and is over-produced in asthma which has inflammatory etiology
