The spectrophotometer is an optical instrument for measuring the intensity of light relative to wavelength. The working principle of the Spectrophotometer is based on Beer-Lambert's law which states that the amount of light absorbed by a color solution is directly proportional to the concentration of the solution and the length of a light path through the solution. It has find greater application in clinical laboratories and other scientific fields such as molecular biology, chemistry and biochemistry. Spectrophotometry is a standard and inexpensive technique to measure substance concentration such as protein, DNA or RNA, growth of bacterial cells, and enzymatic reactions.
