In quest of establishing translation research based on the exemplary fundamental research carried out the Department of Atomic and Molecular Physics on biomedical optics, the Manipal Academy of Higher Education established the Centre for Bio-Photonics. While envisioning to become a Centre of international repute in developing healthcare devices, the Centre aims at undertaking research and development in design, fabrication, testing and evaluation of portable, miniature, photonics-based devices through collaborations between health-care professionals and the photonics scientists. The Centre relies on the potential of spectroscopic tools for the development of cost-effective and novel instruments for the healthcare applications.

Coordinator of the Centre: Dr. Santhosh Chidangil

Established: May 1, 2016
