Presently, development of novel drug delivery systems/ technologies has been considered as an important and integral part of the pharmaceutical product development process. Most of advanced work related to these areas is taking place in the universities and institutions. Pharmaceutical companies are always interested at the development of novel drug delivery systems/ technologies for existing drugs. Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences (MCOPS), an institute which is consistently ranked among top 10 institutes in India, is constantly performing well in academics as well as in research. The research output of MCOPS is enormous with respect to publications, patents, collaborations and research grants. Drug delivery technologies are one of the core research areas of MCOPS. The Center for Drug Delivery Technologies has been established at MCOPS in order to enhance the capability of MCOPS in the related research areas. The center has started functioning officially from 01-Dec-2016.
OBJECTIVES
- Facilitation of the research in the area of drug delivery technologies
- Convergence of Industry and Academia in Research and Development activities - To bring academia and industries on a single platform for product development
- Value addition to the ongoing research
ACTIVITIES
The centre, comprising several researchers, has been created for successfully executing the research projects related to novel drug delivery technologies, conducting hands on training workshops and seminars, submitting the proposals for funding, attempting to transform the developed product into scaled up product, adding the value to ongoing research work by taking the inputs from allied research areas, etc. It is also one of the activities of the centre to approach the funding agencies and industries to provide grants, projects, instruments and to establish state-of-the-art facility in a specified area.
