The faculty of the Department of Biochemistry at MMMC, Manipal are currently engaged in research in the following areas.

1. Study of molecular structure and spectra of some anthraquinone derivatives and their interactions with selected amino acids and oligopeptides.

2. Comparison of analyses of renal stones by biochemical tests and Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectra (LIBS).

3. Guillain Barre Syndrome.

4. Role of inflammation in dyslipidemia associated with menopause and its modulation by Trigonella Foenum graecum".

5. Effect of edible oils on serum lipid profile in albino Wistar Rats.

6. Neuroimmune regulatory proteins in alcoholism.

7. Acetylcholinesterase, paraoxonase 1 and copper in patients with moderate depression.

8. Biochemical, hematological and histological investigations of Andrographis paniculata and andrographolide in neutralizing the toxicity of Naja naja venom.

9. Dental diseases and host immuno-biochemical modifications.

10. Innovative strategies in medical education.
