Manipal Center for Biotherapeutics Research (MCBR) is a newly established research center under the wings of Manipal Academy of Higher education (MAHE). MCBR envisions to carryout innovative research, process, and product development in Biotherapeutics (biologics or biotech drugs) with a broad remit covering various biological products with a therapeutic potential, mainly in the areas of cell, gene, protein, nanotechnology, regenerative medicine and biomaterials.
One of the goals of this centre is to harbour research programs to innovate, develop and translate cutting edge research in the area of biotherapeutics in collaboration with global Biopharma and biotechnology industries. The MCBR faculty have a strong background in basic and applied biotechnology with thrust areas of research in Stem Cells, Biomaterials and Regenerative Medicine, Bioartificial Organs, Advanced Cell and Cell-Free Therapy including Extracellular Vesicles, Exosomes, and Immunotherapy etc.
The academic programs (MSc by Research and PhD) offered by MCBR are equipped to fully exploit the potential of these novel and, cutting edge therapeutic avenues by translational research. The strength of these courses is a biotechnology industry-oriented training to create the best workforce.
