The Department of Pathology, Kasturba Medical College Manipal is a hub of diagnostic, teaching and research activity. The Department caters to the Kasturba hospital and hospitals in neighboring regions.

The Pathology department has active Histopathology, Cytology, Hematology, Clinical laboratory and HLA divisions supported by state of the art Immunohistochemistry and Flow cytometry. The laboratories are nearly fully automated, aiding in the issue of quick and accurate reports.

Teaching forms an important thrust for the department, and experienced teachers cater to an annual intake of 250 undergraduate students and 9 MD (Pathology) students. In addition to the conventional didactic lectures, newer, innovative methods of teaching are regularly employed.

Research and academics form an important focus for the faculty and students of the department, with current, relevant topics undertaken for research. Regular continuing medical education programs conducted by academicians of national and international repute help to keep staff and faculty abreast with latest developments in the field.
