The faculty of the Department of Pathology Melaka Manipal Medical College is involved in the teaching of undergraduate medical and dental students of MMMC and also in providing diagnostic services through the Kasturba Medical College and Hospital diagnostic laboratory. 

 The HOD and the department through its association with the Hemophilia Society, Manipal, a registered NGO along with a comprehensive hemophilia care team have been involved in clinical services, awareness and research in hemophilia and bleeding disorders. The department is also part of clinical trials in the areas of bleeding disorders.

The priority areas of research are hence hemophilia and bleeding disorders, community health worker education in bleeding disorders, comprehensive hemophilia care, patient empowerment and quality of life in bleeding disorders, women with bleeding disorders and Siddha medicine in hemophilia. Thrombosis is another area of research.

The other areas of research include hematology and laboratory medicine, flow-cytometry of leukemias, diagnostic histopathology including Immunostudies.

 The faculty also conduct innovative pedagogic practices and activities which contribute to pedagogic research. A few examples “Path theatre” a dramatic competition in concepts in pathology, use of clickers in the review, digital microscopy and Pandora cupboard of museum specimen for student learning.
