The Department offers a two year postgraduate course, M.Pharm Pharmaceutical Biotechnology. The department has excellent infrastructure, state-of-art laboratories and competitive faculty specialized in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology. The focused research areas are (i) RNAi based gene silencing and therapy, (ii) Bioprocess development of microbial metabolites, (iii) Drug discovery: screening of drug candidates for various biological activities, (iv) Microbial nanoparticle production, development of nano-forumulations and drug delivery, (v) Drug-resistance mechanisms in microorganisms and, (vi) Protein, peptide based drugs and DNA vaccines. The department is successful in getting research grants funded by DBT, DST, ICMR, AICTE, VGST etc. Since the inception of the department in 2005, the research work carried out in the department are published in  reputed journals. The department also offers contract research facilities to Pharmaceutical Industries and Research students in carrying out cell based and microbial studies of their drug candidates.
