The Department of Pharmacy Practice of MCOPS, established at Kasturba Medical College Hospital (2032 bedded), Manipal in 2001, specializes in clinical pharmacy practice and research on pharmacotherapy. The prime aim of our department research is to generate the data on evidence based pharmacy towards patient safety, pharmaceutical care and clinical research in disease management. The department involves in primary and secondary data analysis to develop clinical evidences. Our research activities are funded by several governmental funding agencies such as ICMR, DST and AICTE. Various departmental (h-index) and journal matrices (IF) demonstrates our scholarly influence. The department publishes and review articles for several prominent journals including BMC journals and BMJ publications. We have won several national and international scholarships and awards from ISPOR, ISPE, NPS, CICS, CSIR, DST, ICMR etc. The department runs the 'Centre for Toxicovigilance and Drug Safety' established under Manipal University as one of the Centres of Excellence in research. Majority of the faculty are internationally trained and have collaboration with reputed institution aborad such as NIAID, NCI, NCATS (NIH) Bethesda MD USA; Kentucky state university, KY, USA; School of Pharmacy NE University Boston USA; School of Pharmacy, The University of Queensland, Australia; University of Wyoming, USA; University of Findlay, USA; School of Pharmacy, University of Waterloo Canada; Griffith University, Australia; Pennsylvania Cancer and Regenerative Medicine Research Centre, PA USA and College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences, St. Johns University, NY, USA.
