Faculty of Biochemistry department have contemplated research in the field of free radical studies extending and delivering its benefits in the diagnosis and prognosis of a wide gamut of clinical conditions.namely
- Diabetes
- Cardiovascular diseases
- Cancers
- Thyroid disorders
- Lipid Research
- Radioprotection
- Chemoprotection
- Phytochemical research
Quantitation of biomarkers like hormones, growth factors, inflammatory markers, enzymes ,vitamins, neurotransmitters, tumor markers etc, in biological fluids and tissues in health and disease is the integral part of faculty research projects.
Phytochemical research encompasses preparation of crude extracts of plants using soxhlet apparatus ,qualitative and quantitative estimations of oxidant and antioxidant parameters in the crude extract, studying the antidiabetic, anti-inflammatory, antiatherogenic, antioxidant, hepatoprotective, nephroprotective ,radioprotective and chemoprotective effects of these crude extracts in animal models which has been funded by BRNS,DAE,Govt of India.
Collaborative studies include HPLC, COMET assay, micronucleus assay and histological parameters.
Furthermore, the department intends to collaborate with laboratories in the areas of tissue culture, epigenetics, proteomics, genomics and immunohistochemistry to upgrade research to the next level.
