INDO-GERMAN CENTER FOR APPLIED RESEARCH AND ACADEMIC EXCHANGE (INGAR)
Manipal University (MU) and Hochschule Bremen (HSB) have a long lasting and fruitful relationship with a variety of joint activities, especially in the field of student and faculty exchange. However, the cooperation has not been utilized to its full potential. This is basically because all activities have been very focused and limited to single departments, schools or persons. Synergies from these activities have not been completely capitalized upon, neither within nor between the partners, because a coordinating unit or platform that links the existing activities is missing. Moreover, both universities strive for global excellence and consider internationality as one of their core values. In an increasingly globalized world of higher education there is a growing need to distinguish itself from competitors. The proposed center would be a unique undertaking both in scale and scope, especially if MU Jaipur, with which HSB has signed a MoU recently, and MU Campus Dubai, with which HSB is planning for an MBA Summer School in the moment, will be included in the proposed center. HSB may be also able to give MU access via INGAR to the UAS7 network, a strategic alliance of seven leading German Universities of Applied Sciences committed to excellence in teaching and research. The aim of this center is to bundle the already existing diverse exchange activities and to serve as a platform for future joint activities in advanced research as well as student and faculty exchange.
