Launched in 1998, the School of Information Sciences (SOIS) at Manipal is an industry driven state-of-the-art training institute of excellence in the field of VLSI, Embedded Systems and Medical Software. The institution conducts ME Programs in the highly specialized areas like VLSI-CAD, Embedded Systems, Medical Software and Data Science.

Since its inception, the institute has continuously strived for excellence in education, training and research with a mission of offering value based education.

The industry tie-ups and practical-oriented curriculum ensures that the programs are in step with industry requirements and feedback. The institute also helps students get internships in premier industries during their second year of study.

The School of Information Sciences is ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004 certified. The Times of India has listed SOIS (formerly, Manipal Centre for Information Science) under the Institutes to Watch along with IITs for its innovative programs.
