The Department of Orthopaedics is one of the largest department existing ever since the beginning of the college. Not only in Manipal Academy of Higher Education, it is one of the oldest department started in whole of Dakshin Kannada.

Lead by senior and distinguished faculty, it is now providing sub-specialisation such as Shoulder and elbow surgery, Hand and Microvascular Surgery, joint reconstruction (arthroplasty), Arthroscopy and sports medicine, Paediatric orthopaedics, Foot and ankle surgery, Spine surgery, Musculoskeletal oncology and Orthopaedic trauma.

The Department of Orthopaedics, unlike earlier, is now a separate branch from surgery and attends to rehabilitation of disabled individuals.
