Dr. Satish hails from Parkala of Udupi District. He completed his Master of Science (Zoology) from Mysore University, Mysore in 1987 with gold medal and has done his Ph.D in Radiobiology from the Kasturba Medical College, Manipal in the year 1994.
He started his career as Lecturer at the Department of Radiobiology, Kasturba Medical College, Manipal in the year 1993 and served the position for a short stint of 8 months. He then served as the Guest Investigator at the Institute fur Medizinische Strahlenbiologie Unversitatsklinikum Essen, Germany. He joined his alma mater in June 1994 and since then has served the Institution in various academic and administrative capacities. He has served as the Head of the Department of Radiobiology, Manipal School of Life Sciences since 2007. He has also served as the Associate Director, Manipal School of Life Sciences, Manipal from March 2016 to March 2019.
Dr. Satish has published more than 140 research articles. He has also co-authored 2 books. He is the Principal Investigator / Co- Investigator for many research projects. He is also the editorial member of Journal of Radiation and Cancer Research and Journal of Medical Physics, Wolters Kluwer, Medknow Publication and reviewer of more than 30 journals. He is a Life Member and Vice-General Secretary of International Society for Mangiferin Research, Life Member and Executive Member of Indian Society for Radiation Biologists and various other professional bodies.
Dr. Satish has received several International travel grants, served as a post-doctoral fellow and visiting scientist at the reputed national and international organizations such as Research Reactor Institute, Kyoto University, Japan; The University of New South Wales, Australia; Department of Radiation Oncology- University of Miami School of Medicine – USA; University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, Texas, USA etc. He is the recipient of 'INSA National Teachers Award -2017'
