Dr. Bidyut Kumar Ghosh is an Associate Professor in the Manipal School of Commerce and Economics at the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Manipal, Karnataka. With over two decades of academic, research, and consultancy experience, he specializes in Statistics and Econometrics, Time Series Analysis, and Machine Learning, applying these tools to address critical issues in agricultural and rural development and tourism economics.
Dr. Ghosh earned his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Burdwan in 2009, focusing on the growth and cropping pattern changes in West Bengal’s agriculture. His academic journey also includes an M.Phil and M.Sc. in Economics, both from the University of Burdwan, with a specialization in Statistics and Econometrics.
A prolific researcher, Dr. Ghosh has published extensively in Scopus-indexed and UGC-Care-listed journals, covering topics such as crop diversification, financial market integration, tourism efficiency, and applications of statistical and machine-learning models in economic analysis. His scholarly contributions include more than 25 research papers in reputed journals like Sustainability, Tourism Culture & Communication, Cogent Business and Management, and Indian Journal of Finance. He has also authored the book Agricultural Growth and Agrarian Relations (Serial Publications, 2013).
In addition to his teaching and research, Dr. Ghosh has been actively engaged in several research and consultancy projects, including studies funded by NABARD, the Avantha Foundation, and the Institute for Transportation and Development Policy (India). His applied research has contributed to policy discussions on rural infrastructure, urban governance, and congestion pricing in metropolitan regions.
Dr. Ghosh is proficient in multiple statistical and econometric software platforms, including R, Python, Julia, Stata, EViews, and Gretl, and has conducted numerous faculty development programmes (FDPs) and workshops on econometrics, time-series analysis, and programming for economics and management research.
He is a Life Member of both the Agricultural Economics Research Association (AERA) and The Indian Econometric Society (TIES), reflecting his active engagement with India’s research community.
