A.    Neurosurgical teaching/ Administrative
Professor and head, Neurosurgery, Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, for the last six years
a.    Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) is one of the premier academic universities in India and was recently recognized as an Institute of Eminence by the Government of India. The department performs nearly 1000 surgeries every year, and has a bed strength of over fifty inpatients at any given time. Under my guidance, the surgical volume has increased by over 50%, new surgical sub-specialties have been started, the academic program has been streamlined, and the number of post graduate seats have increased from 02 to 04 and the faculty strength to 7. Extensive experience in training neurosurgery residents and guiding junior colleagues in all aspects of neurosurgery, both general and subspecialty oriented programs.

b.    Two decades as a consultant surgeon in a premier institute of national importance. Peer recognized expertise in cerebrovascular surgery, microanastomosis surgery, epilepsy surgery and sellar suprasellar surgery.
B.    Clinical / Surgical skill development
•    Proposed a new globally recognized surgical technique to facilitate cerebrovascular surgery (World Neurosurg. 2021 Jan;145: e127-e130)
•    Established the Department of Neurosurgery at the Klerksdorp-Tshepong (KT) Provincial Hospital, North-West Province, South Africa. 
o    KT Hospital is a secondary level provincial hospital in the North-West province of South Africa. I successfully accomplished my mandate of establishing a Department of Neurosurgery in this hospital in the year 2012-13. The department has since been providing neurosurgical services to the entire province, and has also been recognized as a peripheral teaching unit of Wits University, Johannesburg.
•    Established the Department of Neurosurgery at BGS Apollo Hospitals, Mysore, India. 
o    During my brief stint in a private corporate hospital in 2002, I successfully initiated a robust neurosurgical program at the Apollo Hospitals, Mysore.
•    Established the epilepsy surgery program at KMC Hospital, Manipal
•    Established the cerebral revascularization program at KMC Hospital, Manipal
•    Key member of the initial surgery team at the Madhavan Nair Comprehensive Epilepsy Care program of SCTIMST. The epilepsy surgery program at SCTIMST is the forerunner for all major current epilepsy programs in India 
•    Key member of the founding team of the Comprehensive Stroke program at SCTIMST and the lead for the surgery team at the time of initiation of the program.
•    Initiated the epilepsy surgery program in the state of Gujarat and in several institutes across India (B K Shah Medical College, Sumandeep Vidyapeeth University, Vadodara., Lourdes Hospital, Cochin, India, Avitis Hospital, Palakkad, India
