Professional Information

Dr. Jithin Surendran, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Community Medicine at KMC, Mangalore, affiliated with the Manipal Academy of Higher Education, with qualifications of MD, and DNB in Community Medicine. I am deeply committed to advancing public health through education, research, and medical services.
My professional journey has been shaped by a strong focus on public health, particularly in areas such as rabies prophylaxis, personal hygiene practices, health service utilization, and public health schemes. My work has consistently aimed to address the health challenges faced by vulnerable populations, including infectious disease prevention, maternal and child health, and COVID-19 vaccination.
Throughout my career, I have been actively involved in various national and state-level health programs, clinical studies, and research projects. I have also contributed significantly to the field through my publications, which reflect my dedication to improving health outcomes and access to care for all.
My experience includes working as a Senior Resident, conducting cross-sectional studies on critical health issues, and participating in special task teams for COVID-19 containment. I have also been involved in training programs and conferences, sharing my knowledge and expertise with peers and students alike.
As I continue my journey in public health, I remain committed to making a meaningful impact on community health and contributing to the betterment of society through my work.

  • External Monitor (WHO) – Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) campaigned in Anekal, Jigani, Doddanekindi, Ghorekundepalaya & Marthahalli PHC area, Bangalore in March 2019.                                  External Monitor (WHO) – Intensified Mission Indradhanush 2.0 campaigned in Kanakapura tq. of Ramnagara district in January 2020.
  • Co-invetigator for Clinical Study - A Phase 2/3, Randomized, Observer-blind, Controlled, Multi-Center Study to Evaluate the Lot-to-Lot Consistency of SIIPL Meningococcal ACYWX Conjugate Vaccine (NmCV-5) and to Compare its Safety and Immunogenicity with that of Licensed Meningococcal ACWY Vaccine Menactra® in Healthy Individuals 18-85 Years of Age, 2020-21.
  • Co-invetigator for Clinical Study - “A Phase IV, Randomized, Controlled Study of the Safety and Immunogenicity of Rabishield + Rabivax-S Post-Exposure Prophylaxis regimen in Patients with Potential Rabies Exposure”, 2019-21.
  • Part of BBMP special task team for COVID-19 containment and strengthening of surveillance activities from March to May 2020.                                  
  • Part of organizing team of “Dr BS SAJJAN ORATION” March 15, 2023.
  • Attended Training of Trainers (TOT) part of state government training program related to TB elimination and trained various level healthcare workers of the district under NTEP.

Awards and Recognition:

Part of organising team of IAPSMCON 2024 51st Annual National Conference and also member of numerous national bodies like- IAPSM,IPHA,APCRI,EFI,IAAH Karnataka etc. 

Creative Works

Worked as the IAPSM nodal officer for the district of Chamarajanagar, Karnataka, for the TB-Subnational Certification (SNC) initiative. Dakshina Kannada district's PMTBMBA and TB Free Gramme Panchayath initiatives are being monitored by an external entity.
