Well Woman Clinic
Dr. Ranjitha S Shetty leads the Well Woman Clinic, which is dedicated to advancing comprehensive women’s health care, including breast and cervical cancer screening, reproductive health counseling, and preventive education. The clinic places strong emphasis on outreach among tribal and underserved populations, fostering awareness, early detection, and empowerment.
Research Grants and Vaccine Trials
Supported by grants from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Dr. Shetty’s work focuses on women’s health, cancer prevention, and community-based interventions among tribal populations. She has contributed to major national vaccine trials such as Cervavac and Rotasil, aimed at strengthening immunization coverage and reducing disease burden among women and children.
Collaborations
Dr. Shetty collaborates with the Indian Cancer Society, Bengaluru, the Manipal Foundation on cancer awareness and screening programs. Her partnerships with the India Council of Medical Research, New Delhi, the George Institute for Global Health, New Delhi, the NCD Cell, District Health & Family Welfare Department, Udupi, and the Integrated Tribal Development Project (ITDP), Udupi, extend women’s health promotion and cancer prevention initiatives to rural and tribal communities.
Internationally, she has collaborated with the University of Aberdeen (UK) and Deakin University (Australia) to promote interdisciplinary research and capacity building in women’s and community health.
As Coordinator for the Centre for Community Oncology and the Centre for Indigenous Population, Dr. Shetty oversees programs that integrate research, outreach, and education to address cancer prevention, indigenous health, and community-based health models for tribal people. These centers serve as platforms for interdisciplinary collaboration, community engagement, and policy advocacy in public health.
PhD Supervision
Dr. Shetty supervises PhD scholars whose research focuses on women’s health, reproductive health, geriatric health, and the health challenges of tribal populations.

• “Young Researcher Award” received at 5th World Cancer Congress held in September 2021 for presenting the research work on cervical cancer prevention among rural women.
•"Travel Grant" from ICMR, New Delhi for delivering a talk during “National Consultation on Tribal Health Research” at ICMR-National Institute for Implementation Research on Non-Communicable Diseases (formerly known as Desert Medicine Research Centre), Jodhpur, in 2019.
