N2 - A novel micro-strip antenna using defected ground structure (DGS) with improved gain for satellite communication is presented. Two layered stacked antenna design operates in the frequency range of 11.25–12.82 GHz (X and Ku band). The modeling and simulation is performed using HFSS (High Frequency Structural Simulator) software and results of antenna characteristics like return loss, gain and radiation efficiency are presented in the support and verification of the design. Impedance bandwidth of 13.2% and peak gain of 8.83 dB is observed.
