Abstract
Purpose: The primary objective of any furcation therapy is the elimination of the pocket by resective or regenerative procedures and making the area accessible for plaque control. The purpose was to evaluate the efficacy of the Bidirectional Positioned flap (BPF) surgical strategy for treating mandibular furcation class II defect. Methods: The bioactive ceramic composite granules (Grabio Glascera TM) in the treatment of Class II furcation defects was used along with BPF. This case report describes a patient who was diagnosed with class II mandibular molar furcation defect on the basis on clinical and radiographic observation. Results: BPF was carried out to treat the furcation defect and results were obtained after six months of follow up. This case report satisfactory treatment outcome. Conclusion: This case report demonstrate detail description of BPF and results obtained from this case suggests that it can be a viable treatment option for treating furcation defects and it opens a vast array of research for this surgical strategy.
