Abstract
Distributed Generators (DG) are the formation of multi-source micro grid in a single architecture. The DGs are designed to regulate the voltage, current and frequency as per to the power requirement observed from the load terminals. The design of an optimum control strategy will improve the performance of the DG to certain extent. The proposed work forms a DG control system in a Matlab/Simulink simulation setup with PV, fuel cell (PEMFC) and Ultra-Capacitor for providing a reliable and regulated output to a power grid. The PV system employed in the work is equipped with an MPPT algorithm for supplying maximum power to the connected system. Also to overcome the intermittent nature of the PV cells, the work employs an ultra-capacitor and PEMFC. The ultra- capacitor regulates the output by addressing against the thermodynamic effect of the PEMFC. The system has a control strategy with a power electronic based interfacing circuit along with controller setups for maintaining the power quality. Hence the permitted voltage and frequency level of the grid system is maintained by the DG.
