A review of literature on single-bundle anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapter

Abstract

In recent years, study on Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) reconstruction has gained importance. This is because of the rising number of ACL injuries, especially among physically active adults. Single-bundle ACL reconstruction provides a good surgical choice to improve the quality of life among such patients. This chapter has collated and reviewed literature that has reported clinical/experiment studies and numerical studies. The literature reviewed in this chapter includes both clinical/experimental studies and numerical studies which offer for fortyone research papers. Most of the literature on the clinical/experimental study is of single-bundle Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) reconstruction. We based the literature reviewed under the heading of numerical studies on use of the finite element method. I have included the recent published literature in this chapter. Based on the literature review, we found that there is scope for conducting research using the finite element method in this area of study.
