Abstract
Immersion technologies are quickly changing the healthcare industry, particularly augmented reality and virtual reality. Augmented reality enhances the real world with digital information, and virtual reality replaces the real world with a simulated environment. Virtual reality and augmented reality present a multitude of opportunities for medical diagnosis, treatment, education, and rehabilitation. Virtual reality can generate completely immersive and simulated settings, while augmented reality superimposes digital information onto the real world. This article examines the state of augmented reality and virtual reality in healthcare today, stressing the technologies many uses, future advantages, and current challenges.
