Abstract

Objective of review is to study tyre aerodynamics which aims to reduce emissions, fuel intake and to improve the efficiency of automobiles. Tyre is one of the most essential part of vehicle as it plays a major part in ensuring safety of the vehicle, aerodynamics of a rotating tyre contributes about 33% of total vehicle drag. Decrease in drag can lead to increase in safety, comfort and efficiency. Even a minute change in geometry of tyre can impact the vehicle drag by a minor amount. Friction of tyre is basis for control systems developed in improving safety at dangerous braking situation; parameters like load, velocity, and slip rate including pavement characteristics affect friction. Type of inflation affects consumption of fuel and determines life of tyre; properly inflated tyre is more efficient by reducing noise generation and fuel consumption therefore reducing environmental issues. In order to increase performance of vehicle advancement should be made in improving aerodynamics of a vehicle. Main intention of paper is to address the design of tyre for different vehicles providing idea for researchers and new learners to work on vehicle tyre aerodynamics.
