Abstract

Many diseases including oral conditions have been treated with ayurveda. Dentistry has incorporated herbal agents like Aloe vera due to anti-microbial, anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-viral, wound healing and immunomodulatory properties. In this chapter, a systematic search of the published literature was done with respect to AV in maintaining oral health. Literature was reviewed with respect to the effectiveness, efficacy, safety and adverse effects.
