Abstract
Although polysomnographic recording of sleep-related events is considered to be essential during nocturnal penile tumescence (NPT) monitoring in the evaluation of erectile dysfunction, the Rigiscan device capable of sophisticated monitoring of tumescence, rigidity, number and duration of events with ambulatory advantage seems to be more popular amongst clinicians. Nevertheless, rapid screening tests like the stamp test and the snap gauge test continue to be of value in practice for ease and simplicity of their performance. A device based on similar principle, made out of malleable aluminium nose clips retrieved from discarded disposable surgical masks was tried to detect nocturnal penile rigidity in ten healthy men with encouraging results.
