Antimicrobial therapy in resource-limited settings with high antimicrobial resistance: a case-based approach

Research output: Contribution to journalReview articlepeer-review

Abstract

Choosing antimicrobial therapy in resource-limited settings is challenging because of the lack of advanced diagnostics and limited treatment options. Further-more, since most international guidelines do not ac-count for settings with high antimicrobial resistance, it is difficult for primary care physicians to choose the right antibiotic. This review, therefore, attempts to summarise the principles of antimicrobial therapy in such settings through six hypothetical case scenarios.
