Abstract

Biomass is organic matter that can be used as a source of sustainable energy production. It is currently the most ubiquitous form of renewable energy due to growing concerns over the devastating environmental impact of fossil fuel consumption, viz. climate change, global warming, etc. Different technologies (i.e., thermochemical, biochemical, and physicochemical technologies) can be employed to convert biomass into energy, which can be used for numerous applications. More efficient technologies for converting biomass into energy are currently under investigation. However, the energy derived from biomass and its role in replacing fossil fuels entirely are currently under considerable global inspection and study.
