Abstract
Making its first foray into Middle East mediation, China brokered a peace deal between Saudi Arabia and Iran on 10 March 2023. As long-term rivals, the ties between Riyadh and Tehran had been frozen since 2016, facing each other on the opposing sides of the conflicts in Yemen and Syria. During 2021 and 2022, Iraq and Oman hosted multiple rounds of dialogues between the two nations, but peace was eventually negotiated in the good offices of Beijing. The "Joint Trilateral Statement" signed between Beijing, Riyadh and Tehran states.
