Abstract

Chlorpyrifos is a broad spectrum chlorinated organophosphate (OP) insecticide, acaricide and nematicide. On ingestion chlorpyrifos mainly affects the nervous system by inhibiting the breakdown of acetyl choline (Ach), a neurotransmitter and thus produces endogenous Ach poisoning resulting in complex ventricular arrhythmias. We report a rare case of a 40 year old male with relevant ECG findings of broad complex ventricular tachycardia following consumption of chlorpyrifos compound.
