    Abstract

In this work an attempt is made to reduce the COD of waste water collected from a dye industry manufacturing organic yellow dyes using various kinds of adsorbents. It was found that activated charcoal is a suitable adsorbent under specified conditions. Also, cheaply available adsorbents such as saw dust and rice husks also show good results.
