Abstract

Information exchange between the load side and the source side allows the power electronic system to adjust its operation to match the load requirements dynamically. This paper presents a mechanism for the transfer of power and data between the load and the source sides of the power electronic system. The system utilizes the coded information in the switching signals adopting coded power transfer. The data to be transmitted is converted into a binary fixed point number and is superimposed on the switched voltage to transfer the information. The coded power transfer is implemented on a buck converter system. The conversion of data from the analog domain to the digital domain and vice versa is explored. The simulation results are obtained from MATLAB/Simulink software and Hardware-in-loop validating the sequential transmission of data and power.
