Abstract
Almost every region of the body can acquire cancer, and it can have a vast array of reasons, associated risks, and symptoms. Cancer has the ability to evolve defenses against the immune system's observation and assault as it advances. In order to evade the system's capacity to attack them, cancer cells have the ability to inhibit chemicals that ordinarily make them detectable to the immune system. At present, colorectal cancer (CRC) ranks as the fourth most deadly cancer globally. An estimated 134,490 new cases of colorectal cancer were reported in 2016 (70,820 male cases and 63,670 female cases), with 49,190 colorectal cancer deaths (26,020 male cases and 23,170 female cases) recorded. In terms of new cases in men (8% of all new cancer cases), colorectal cancer comes in third place, only behind lung and prostate cancer. As a result, colorectal cancer continues to be a major public health concern. Among the most common solid tumors in the West is colorectal cancer. Treatment choices are determined by the phase of the disease, the patient's performance status, and, progressively, the molecular structure of the tumor. Because tumors are discovered at earlier stages in countries with surveillance programs, both the incidence and mortality rates have decreased. The majority of CRC cases are found in Western nations, and the disease is becoming more common there every year. Colorectal cancer is primarily found in long-established developed nations whose populations tend to display risk factors such as obesity, a diet low in fruits and vegetables, physical inactivity, and smoking. Utilizing the most recent information available, the purpose of this chapter is to describe colorectal cancer worldwide and to provide information concerning colorectal cancer current therapies present worldwide. The chapter conveys a general review of treatment options, emphasizing the value of a multidisciplinary approach to patient care, and individualized treatment plans. These options may include surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and targeted therapies.
