Abstract

Phase noise for NMOS cross-coupled and CMOS cross-coupled oscillators are compared in this paper. The oscillators are designed for a center frequency of 2.4 GHz. The phase noise at 1 MHz offset frequency for NMOS cross-coupled oscillator and CMOS cross-coupled oscillator are found to be - 112.95 dBc/Hz and -134.15 dBc/Hz respectively. The tuning range for NMOS cross-coupled and CMOS cross-coupled oscillators are 1.04 GHz and 1 GHz respectively. The oscillators are simulated with 180 nm GPDK technology using Cadence Virtuoso and Spectre tool.
