Control and power management of stand-alone PV-FC-UC hybrid system

    Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

    Abstract

The photovoltaic energy is naturally intermittent with stochastic fluctuations, hybridization of PV system with other sources is necessary so as to ensure continuous supply of electricity. This paper presents the power management of PV-fuel cell hybrid system with ultracapacitor bank for stand-alone applications. The transient power is absorbed or supplied by ultracapacitors during unpredictable solar or load power variations. The DC-DC bidirectional converter with controller is used to connect ultracapacitor bank to DC bus. The PV power system is controlled to extract maximum power. The hybrid system aims to provide a single phase power supply to consumers with constant voltage and frequency which is achieved through inverter controller. Dynamic modeling and simulation study are accomplished in MATLAB/Simulink environment.
