Abstract

Two most important biodegradable polymers such as polycaprolactone and polylactic acid have been compounded in different proportions with organoclay MMT by melt blending.Organo clay MMT was added to enhance their compatibility and mechanical properties. The materials were characterized by using XRD, FTIR, thscanning electron microscopy, and thermogravimetric analysis.XRD results indicatedthat the materials formed intervcalated the nano composites.SEM morphology showed that the increasing content of MMT reduces the domain size of phase separated particles. The controlled drug delivery system has been studied using these bionanocomposites as the carrier. The kinetic parameters have been evaluated and the drug delivery mechanism has been suggested.
