Abstract
Fires and explosions claim a significant proportion of lives in industrial and agricultural hazards, particularly in chemical and mining industries. Industrial burn injuries result in significant morbidity, infrequent mortality and loss of man hour leading to decreased productivity. A case of fatal burns due to molten metal encountered at the Department of Forensic Medicine, Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, India is reported and discussed. It is emphasized that, generating awareness about the industrial burn injuries and rendering timely first-aid measures to the victims is the need of the hour, which would positively minimize the magnitude of the problem.
