N2 - Solar energy is one of the highly available non-conventional and clean energy sources. Harnessing the power from the solar panel is costlier than other sources. The maximum power point tracking (MPPT) helps maximum power utilization and also improves the system efficiency of PV panel and therefore reduces the overall cost of system. Normally, the voltage and current relationship is nonlinear and maximum power point (MPP) varies according to the solar irradiance. The MPPT consists of a DC–DC converter and a MPPT algorithm. This paper presents a simulation of perturb and observe (P&O) MPPT algorithm and SEPIC converter by using a simulation software powersim (PSIM). The simulation shows that the DC–DC converter extracts maximum power from the panel using MPPT algorithm.
