Design and Analysis of Optimized Clear Channel Assessment for Data Transmission in IEEE 802.15.4 based Networks

Abstract

In current applications such as smart cities, smart grids, and industrial wireless sensor networks, the Internet of Things (IoT) plays a major role to build many wireless sensor network (WSN) applications. To develop such applications, the primary requirement is to develop a stable short-range enabled WSN. Furthermore, the IEEE 802.15.4 standard establishes a short-range reliable communication between the devices in WSN. However, the clear channel assessment (CCA) adopted in the standard is not suitable for all the network scenarios. In this paper, we develop an optimized CCA algorithm for the recurrent data transmitted in the star topology networks. Furthermore, the optimized CCA is analyzed with Markov chain model and validated using the MATLAB 2019a Tool.
