Abstract

Commercial and Industrial lighting constitutes a sizeable portion of energy consumed. It is important to find ways cost-effective ways of utilizing energy consumed as energy prices soar. This project reports work based on video based human occupancy sensing and controlling the lighting level accordingly. Work involves development of human occupancy sensing system in MATLAB and hardware setup to control the lighting level. This proposed system works successfully in a controlled setup, thus proving that effective systems can be developed in future incorporating the proposed system to bring about more efficiency and also saving energy.
