Design of a Dual-Band Pentagon Shaped Graphene Patch Antenna for Terahertz Applications

Abstract

An antenna over SiO2 substrate in the form of a pentagon shaped slotted graphene patch is presented in this paper. The radiating patch is fed with CPW feedline. The total size of antenna is 60 × 70 × 1.8 μ3. Return loss, radiation patterns and polar plots are obtained and analyzed using HFSS 11.1 tool. It gives a dual band frequency response in the terahertz domain. The designed antenna resonates for dual bands in the terahertz regime from 1.5-1.9 THz and 3.1-3.6 THz, which makes it suitable for biomedical imaging and tumor detection applications.
