Abstract

Electrolarynx (EL) or Artificial Larynx is a device for speech production for the laryngeal patients without using vocal chords and the space in between the folds. The electro-mechanical device needs to be pressed against the neck surface to produce the vibrations. These vibrations will be carried towards the oral cavity through the pharyngeal muscles and where it is converted into an intelligible speech. At present, a hand held EL is used and quality of voice is less when compared to natural voicing. The present work consists of a design of driving source to improve the voice quality using the frequency response of the neck.
