Abstract

In this paper, a biodegradable paper-substrate-based RC circuit is proposed for sustainable development. The circuit is built on conventional office paper, with graphene as an electrode material. The experimental results show the development of resistors from 10KΩ to 550KΩ and capacitors from 1.5pF to 10pF. This provides an opportunity to develop a tunable RC filter with a cutoff frequency of 29KHz to 10MHz. Finally, the frequency response of the proposed RC circuit is analyzed in detail. The structure exhibits an experimental 3dB-gain cutoff frequency of around 24KHz and 285KHz for the corresponding 6B and 9B-graphite electrodes. This response can also be tuned by external stimulus and thus paving the way for more sustainable yet high-performing electronic systems in wearable security solutions and smart access control systems.
