Abstract

This paper makes use of Semantic web technologies for developing a model for web searching and data representation over the existing technologies. The paper here proposes the use of a novel-ontology-based semantic search engine which takes into consideration the domain or semantic meaning of the user's query. The solution adopted here takes into consideration the RDF (Resource Description Framework) based approach which helps to convert the unstructured data into structured format. Semantic Web Technology enables to capture relationship and association as metadata. This process is described by developing a website (viz. Document Library) which runs on an inference engine which suggests the users the kind of books they like based upon its reasoning. The database for such an engine has been moved away from the traditional RDBMS format and more easy-to-use XML files have been used in place. These XML files are in fact RDF/XML files, which allow inference process to be achieved in a smooth fashion.
