E-Waste: Promoting the Need for Green Electronics

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingConference contribution

Abstract

Electronic trash (e-waste), commonly referred to as waste electronic and electrical equipment (WEEE), is a developing issue that presents significant concerns to both the environment and public health because of contamination. The main reasons for unmanaged electronic waste all over the world are the quick pace of invention and low cost of production. As a consequence, there must be disposed of massive amounts of e-waste each year, whose disposal is a major concern. E-waste management strategies like economizing and recycling are essential in tackling this problem. These techniques aid in the development of a circular economy. This article gives an overview of worldwide e-waste statistics while concentrating on the benefits of recycling. It stresses how environmentally friendly devices may be a practical answer to the damage that e-waste does to both people and the environment.
