Abstract
There has been a lot of research and development in the field of edible vaccines, which aims to deliver vaccines through edible plants. The concept behind edible vaccines is to genetically engineer plants, such as fruit or vegetables, to produce viral antigens or proteins that can stimulate an immune response when consumed. This approach offers potential advantages, including ease of administration, reduced dependence on needles, and the possibility of large-scale production. These edible vaccines could theoretically provide protection against diseases like hepatitis B or rotavirus, among others. The research in this field is continually evolving, with new developments.
