Abstract
There are reports that some non steroidal antiinflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) have healing suppressant activity and this activity can be alleviated by incorporating copper into them. A study was undertaken to compare indomethacin and its copper complex on wound healing profiles in male albino rats. Incision and dead space wound models were used in this study. Indomethacin-copper (Ind-Cu) significantly reversed the suppressant effect of indomethacin on gain in breaking strength of incision and dead space wounds. Ind-Cu shared the suppressant effect of indomethacin on granuloma formation and its collagen content.
