Abstract

The present study deals with investigating the effect of multi-lobed envelope geometries on the added mass computation. Multi-lobed geometry parameterization is a function of envelope shape that affects the volume and surface area. For a given volume, the size of the airship can be different based on the envelope profile. The proposed method uses CAD software, meshing software, and commercial numerical computing software for added mass computation. A methodology is proposed based on a surrogate model from Machine Learning techniques to compute the added mass for any given multi-lobed airship design.
